PolyNSBE – Who We Are

Posted by admin On April - 15 - 2010

Alex Charles: President

My name is Alex Charles, President of the NYU:Poly NSBE Chapter. I am a senior in Computer Science with a concentration in Management and Information Systems and Web Systems and Applications. I joined the NYU:Poly NSBE family freshman year back in 2007 with a curiosity to become apart of something important on campus that would place me in the vicinity of fellow students facing similar obstacles and challenges. In 2008 I became more involved and served on the Black History Committee and attended my first National Convention. It was there that I saw the immensity and potential of NSBE on a holistic and National Level. I saw thousands of members rallied for a common purpose and goal striving to reach new levels of excellence and success and leaving a positive impact in the world around them. In 2009, I stepped up and served as the treasurer of this chapter to make an even greater impact. Ultimately as President I want to provide a fresh experience to NYU:Poly NSBE completely fulfilling our mission of academic excellence, professional success and cultural awareness while developing the chapter communication and relationship to produce even more future leaders within our organization.

Sukari Brown: Internal Vice President

Hey NSBE Family! My name is Sukari A. Brown and I am the 2010-2011 Internal Vice President for the NYU:PolyNSBE Chapter here at the Polytechnic Institute of NYU where I am a sophomore majoring in Civil Engineering. I have been a member of NSBE since 2005, when I was a NSBE Jr. Member at the Brooklyn Technical High School Chapter. I am confident that the goals set for the chapter this year will truly ignite a new sense of NSBE pride amongst our members on campus. There is a strong focus this year on academic excellence for the members and the executive board which I think is important in order to ensure all members are working towards their academic potential.

I look forward to working with this year’s board to make sure that we better benefit our members and work towards achieving the mission of our National Organization. I am excited about this New Year and I hope you are as well! I am here to work for you-the membership. So let your voices be heard and your flames be reignited!

-NSBE Love Ya’ll

Nylajah Manns: Treasurer

My name is Nylajah Manns, and I am the 2010-2011 Treasurer of the Polytechnic Institute Chapter of NSBE. I am a current sophmore here at Poly, majoring in Chemical Engineering. I joined NSBE for the familiarity it provided me; other black people striving for the same goals as me. I became a NSBE leader so that I could better help the goal of the mission and help others obtain the same comfort, opportunities, and support that I encountered.
